NEW-VOL-BLOG-300x200.jpg

Do you like working with kids? Do you have basic instrumental, songwriting, hip hop, and/or electronic music knowledge?  My Voice Music is looking for dedicated individuals, ages 21 and up, to engage at-risk youth in music and performance in order to promote self-esteem, social skills and emotional expression!  Each group is facilitated by a staff member, but volunteers are needed to assist.  Volunteers will, ideally, be able to commit to attending each class session.  Every individual will go through a background check and will be required to attend a volunteer training session.

Students get to participate in musical activities in a low pressure environment where they are encouraged to have fun making music!!!!

  • Mt. Scott Learning Centers:   Tuesdays & Fridays @ 1:50 – 3:20pm
This in-school program is a partnership with the Mt. Scott Learning Centers public alternative school located in Southeast Portland. The high school age students in the class have the opportunity to earn an elective credit toward their diploma. Students get experience using traditional instruments (drums, guitar, bass, keys) as well as electronic based music using beat machines and computers. The main goal in the class is for every student to write, perform, and record their own song either as individuals or as a group.
