Program Manager
30 hours a week with opportunities for growth

Description:
This role will facilitate responsive music programs for youth and young adults ages 9-24 in a variety of settings including residential treatment centers with satellite Program Partners and at MVM Studios in 1-1 sessions, small groups, rock camps, and other situations as needed. MVM provides program participants with engaging, relevant, and challenging experiences in music to promote the development of social and emotional skills and amplify youth voices. MVM facilitators meet youth where they are and adapt their approach to the unique needs and abilities of individual youth while balancing the collective needs of the youth community, setting goals to support youths in writing and recording music.
This role will be required to drive to sites within the Portland Metro-area 1-2+ times a week to serve programs and must hold a valid driver’s license
Responsibilities include:
Teach/facilitate programs independently or with co-faciliators.
Collaborate with other facilitators on teaching strategies and youth development best practices.
Create and draw on existing materials for engaging youth responsive music mentorship, lessons, and programs.
Collaborate with youth on program goals and group agreements. Map out tangible and clear steps for youth to succeed.
Establish and maintain a sense of community, and belonging, in every program.
Prepare youth for recording opportunities and community performances at the end of each term.
Attend weekly program meetings and monthly All-Staff Meetings.
Communicate effectively and consistently with youth, parents, program partners, and MVM team members about the program.
Complete and send timely program debriefs after each session or class.
Participate in professional development opportunities exploring topics such as social and emotional learning; Trauma-informed approaches; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; youth safety; and program improvement.
Required Qualifications
6+ years experience working with youth in one of the following roles: educator, mentor, or facilitator.
Ability to teach and facilitate effectively individually and in groups and hold the attention of a group.
Has a passion for building community and relationships; mentoring youth to find their authentic voice in a responsive, youth-centered way.
Communicates consistently and effectively via multiple channels (i.e. in-person, virtually, email, etc.)
Interested in working with a broad range of youth ages, from 9 up to 24.
Working knowledge of ProTools, Logic, Garage Band, or Ableton.
Multi-instrumentalist- skilled in and able to teach one of the following instruments: guitar, bass, drums, or piano. Has the ability to teach the basics of a secondary instrument(s).
Has an understanding of melody and song structure and is comfortable supporting youth songwriting..
Has a valid driver's license and reliable transportation for transit to partner sites within the Portland Metro Area.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with beginning-to-end recording from tracking to mixing with ProTools, Garage Band, or Logic.
Prior work experience in a non-profit or educational setting.
Skilled in and able to teach 2 or more traditional rock instruments.
Hours & Location: Hours will be based on assigned programs, but generally will fall in the range of 1:30-7:30 pm with the possibility of 1-2 sessions per week that end at 8:30 pm. Must be available for occasional weekend work. Work will occur onsite at MVM Studios and offsite partner locations.
