MVM IV – OUR MOST SUCCESSFUL EVENT TO DATE!
On Saturday, October 6th, we had a blast celebrating four years of using music to help youth cope, heal and thrive. Held at Union Pine in Southeast Portland, MVM IV raised $18,000 for our rock camps, songwriting workshops and artist mentorship programs!
With approximately 200 supporters in attendance, the event was charged with electricity and the feeling of community was overwhelming. Amazing food was provided by Caffe Mingo and Industry Fare, with drinks from Beaker and Flask, New Belgium Brewing, Rock Bottom Brewery, and Kendall Jackson Wine Estates. The night ended with a performance by Alialujah Choir, a local band made up of members from Weinland, Norfolk & Western and M. Ward.
The 2012 Student Compilation Album was released that night, with students performing pieces they had written throughout the year. Each song was a powerful example of personal expression and represented the voices of youth we have the honor of working with. Students also gave moving testimonials about the personal effect My Voice Music has had on their lives.
The silent auction featured nearly 100 packages, including a week’s accommodations in San Francisco, passes to MusicFest NW and autographed merchandise from the Decemberists, Modest Mouse and the Portland Timbers.
…and of course there was photo booth. Click over to our facebook page to see all the wild photos and make sure to “tag” yourself if you happen to be in one of them!
A big thank you goes out to everyone who came and to our event sponsors who helped to make this a very special night!
