WELCOME TO THE BOARD!

MVM is honored to announce the addition of two new board members;

Beth Burns,
Co-Founder/Executive Director at  p:ear

Beth, is one of three co-founders of p:ear, a non profit that builds positive relationships with homeless and transitional youth through education, art and recreation to affirm personal worth and create more meaningful and healthier lives.

Beth Burns grew up in Chicago, surrounded by the realities of the unbalanced distribution of wealth in society. With a passion for people and a drive to understand these economic realities, Beth traveled the world, from the streets of Chicago to the rural villages of Guatemala. She earned her degree in English Literature and her teaching license. Later, working at Sisters Of The Road Café in Portland, Beth began learning about relationship-based services and the amazing gifts that allow homeless people to keep surviving.

Beth has provided insight and assistance to MVM since the beginning (2009), and we are honored to have her play an even larger role now!

Elia Unverzagt,
Executive Communications Manager at Caldera

Caldera is a year-round nonprofit arts mentoring organization that works with underserved youth in Portland and Central Oregon.

Elia is a native Oregonian who recently completed her Masters in Public Administration at Portland State with a focus in Nonprofit Management. Elia has previously worked at TriMet, Oregon Mentors, and the Lake County, Illinois Convention & Visitors Bureau. She also spent a year working in Budapest, Hungary. Elia is an observer and lover of music, culture, communication, and people.

Why did you decide to support My Voice Music?  “I decided to support My Voice Music because the mission and programming speaks to my love of music and my passionate belief in it’s power to inspire and transform.  I was in band throughout high school and am a huge music fan today, going to shows constantly and always listening to something new. ”

Elia has volunteered with MVM since 2010 and most recently was a major force in making our spring benefit concert a huge succes.
