MVM BENEFIT CONCERT – MAY 19:
My Voice Music Benefit Concert was a huge success!! The bands were rocking, the weather was amazing, and the event raised $6,000! This money will go towards funding our summer camps for youth in foster care and our Student Leadership Program. To find out more about these programs click on our Summer Camp Blog.
Thank everyone who came out to support My Voice Music and our Summer Camps. Also, a big ‘THANK YOU’ to the bands Rags and Ribbons, No Kind of Rider, Josh & Mer, and Suckers for Lights; our incredible sponsors Cambia Health Solutions, Waggener Edstrom, KZME, and Oregon Music News; As Good As It Gets Catering for donating all of the amazing food; as well as The Slate for having such a great venue.
MVM STUDENTS SHARE STAGE WITH ROGER WATERS AT ROSE GARDEN!
On May 14th some lucky MVM students, along with youth from Sound Roots School of Music, got to share the stage with a rock icon, Roger Waters, of Pink Floyd to a massive crowd at the Rose Garden Arena. The students performed Another Brick in the Wall and got to hang out back stage with Mr. Waters. Roger even gave MVM student Harley some bass tips during the down time!
OTHER AMAZING STUDENT PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES THAT HAPPENED IN MAY – USING ART AS SOCIAL PRACTICE!
MVM youth Alyssa performed an emotional and moving version of her song, Butterfly, at an Art Therapy exhibit in NE Portland.
Several MVM youth, parents, program partners, staff and volunteers gathered to speak about using art as social practice at PSU’s “Art as Social Practice” event.
