Artist Mentorships are the core of the MVM program model.  Students involved in the Artist Mentorship Program (AMP) are highly committed to their musical development and embrace My Voice Music’s philosophy of personal growth through musical exploration.

WHAT IS IT?

In AMP, participants meet weekly with other students age 13 – 17 to collaborate, write, record, and further explore musical concepts with peers and professional working musicians. Weekly sessions often include rehearsals for upcoming performances, recording and writing accompaniment parts for a new song written by a fellow student, and jam sessions. This year-round program focuses on personal development and musical skills. AMP students will also receive 8 hours of 1-on-1 recording time at MVM Studios for each quarter of instruction. Students must be willing to collaborate with a diverse group of participants with varying degrees of musical levels and experience – attitude is everything!

AMP students have had some amazing opportunities from performing with Roger Waters at the Rose Garden, writing and recording music with Red Fang and other notable Portland Bands, or speaking about the power of music in their lives in front of the Mayor of Portland, at MVM Events and at various University Campuses.

Students from this program may move on to become Student Teachers who teach classes and at rock camps. They may also join our performance band which performs at various high-exposure events and places throughout the year.

By paying for music lessons at My Voice Music, your tuition automatically provides music programs for youth who can not afford it through our PLAY IT FORWARD scholarship model.
